Inauguration of Atal Tinkering Lab at Navy Children School, New Delhi. With a vision to cultivate one million child innovators in India, the Atal Innovation Mission by NITI Aayog and the Government of India envisaged a novel program – the establishment of Atal Tinkering Laboratories (ATLs) in schools across the country. Navy Children School, New Delhi has also got this opportunity to establish such ATL under the financial support and guidance of Atal Innovation Mission.

Mrs. Kala Harikumar (President, NWWA) inaugurated the Atal Tinkering Lab, which has been set up under the aegis of the Atal Innovation Mission of Government’s Niti Aayog, on 29 August 2022. Mrs. Sanskruti Ghormade, (Vice President, NWWA), Cmde. A. A. Abhyankar Cmde. (Cmde NE), Cmde Satish Shinai (Commanding Officer, INS India) and the school Principal, Mrs. Oshima Mathur, were also present for the inauguration.

During the inauguration, the young innovators from the school exhibited various innovative projects like the ‘Blind Man Stick’, ‘Obstacle Avoider ’, ‘Line follower’,’Bluetooth Car’, ‘3D Printer’ and ‘Arduino’ based electronic circuits and explained their functioning and applications. A total of eleven exhibits were shown to the distinguished guests. All these emphasized skill development through ‘Hands on Learning Methodology’. It also highlighted the purpose to foster inquisitiveness and develop scientific temperament amongst children.

Mrs. Kala Harikumar interacted with the budding students and directed them to improvise on the projects and bring in innovations. She also appreciated the fact that such endeavours would provide a platform to young innovators, to tinker, collaborate and showcase their scientific skills and thereby empower them to lead India.
